Large buildings have a different cooling problem from small offices or houses. There may be many rooms, different working areas, shared spaces, equipment rooms, and zones that are used at different times. Keeping all of them reasonably comfortable cannot usually depend on a few wall-mounted cooling units. This is where chilled water systems become useful.
